METDATA Monitor installation notes ---------------------------------- This file contains brief instructions for running a METDATA Monitor software installer. This file applies to the following releases: * 1.6.x * 1.7.x REQUIREMENTS ------------ Software requirements: SUN Java Runtime Environment 1.5 - properly installed and configured (Sun Java Runtime Environment [JRE] 5.0 package can be downloaded from a Sun server for free: http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp) Linux installation also requires: Glibc 2.3 (or newer) X Windows System - properly installed and configured Superuser privileges are necessary with both operating systems: - root privileges (Linux) - administrator privileges (Windows) INSTALLING ---------- Installation of METDATA Monitor software is graphical. Installation of METDATA Monitor is started with either of the following commands: On a Windows operating system, run the following command from the console: java -jar metdata-monitor-x.x.x-x-windows.jar (while x.x.x-x is the version of software) On a Linux operating system, run the following command from your preferred xterminal (xterm,aterm) while running X Windows environment: java -jar metdata-monitor-x.x.x-x-linux.jar In both cases the installation wizard of METDATA Monitor software will start.
